Born in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, Michelle grew up in a
very musical family, where singing songs and playing
instruments were a part of the daily routine. After pursuing a
Bachelor of Music (Voice) at Memorial University, she completed
her formal education at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario,
graduating from the Musical Theatre Performance program.
Unlike many classically trained singers, Michelle never stopped
performing in a variety of venues, with musicians of all
stripes. She has sung classic ballads in many a jazz club,
belted out rock songs in front of bands, carried the
spotlight as a lead singer in modern-day big bands, and
danced and sang in Broadway-style musicals. Her voice
can be heard on several recordings including Life Drawing
CD by the Whitney Smith Big Steam Band, Barry Canning's
Last Man Standing, and of course her very own self-titled
debut cd.
This past year, Michelle spent some time playing the role
of Rizzo in the musical Grease and then went on to tour the
east coast with the big band. Michelle's most recent venture
involved travelling around the world with her husband and
musical director Trey Combs, performing as a Jazz Duo for
Radisson Cruise Lines. The success of their duo inspired
them to write a main stage show entitled Women in Song,
which recieved rave reviews from their audiences.
Currently making Toronto her home, Michelle is constantly
honing her craft as a singer and performer. "Toronto affords
an artist every opportunity to develop a versatile career while
living in a extremely diverse artistic community."
